Friendster is not just losing folks to Facebook. The smaller custom social networking platforms are exploding on the internet. The growing trend is for people to move away from these social networking giants and gather with a smaller group of like minded individuals on the niche social networking sites. It would be interesting to see some percentages, for example.. 10% or the user base left Friendster, what percentage of that moved to Facebook?

hi! it's good to hear another perspective--that Friendster may still be a better choice over Facebook. Facebook winning over Friendster is mostly true for Manila, capital of the Philippines. But in provinces, many people still use and prefer Friendster over other social networking sites.

Many people are continuously lured to transfer to Facebook (either to maintain both Facebook and Friendster accounts or totally abandon/delete Friendster account) mainly because of microblogging and the features of Facebook that are not present in Friendster.

Users change and Facebook seems to address that while Friendster remained the same for a long time. Friendster is trying to change now but it's a bit late, I guess.
