Advertising will not be the only source of revenues for Spanish social network Tuenti. It is launching a mobile operator together with Telefónica, the company that bought it last summer. The service is already being used by some betatesters and will soon extend to more users thru an invitation system.

No news have been filtered about the fees of the new operator. Nevertheless, according to Sean Kane, Tuenti’s CEO, its differentitation will be on the relationship with customers, in which telecoms companies don’t have a good reputation in Spain.

“It will be a movement which engages users with a trasparent, cheap and innovative service”, says. Speculations are that there will be a different price for normal calls and for calls among Tuenti users (around €0.04/min). Chatting will be free and Internet data will also have very low fees.
