The biggest meme in Spanish history: ‘Microsano’ becomes the most searched word in Technorati

What the hell is ‘Microsano’? This question is being asked today by English-speking Technorati users. They are seeing a strange word becoming the most searched all around the world, even more than ‘iran’, ‘alito’ or ‘james frey’, which are related to current events. How did it happen?‘Microsano’ is the term we came out with this morning for our viral marketing contest, HazRuido.com. Ten minutes after we had announced it, many users registered all domain names related to the word, as microsano.com, microsano.org, microsano.net, microsano.es (and combinations with org.es, nom.es and com.es), and even microsano.biz or microsano-microsano.com.Blogs containing the word ‘microsano’ were also registered in Blogspot, Blogeasy.com, MSN Spaces, Acelblog.com, Bitacoras.com, Blogari.net, Zoomblog.com or Ya.com. Some people even tried to get e-mails containing this word, as microsano@gmail.com or microsano@hotmail.com. A user has also created a ‘microsano’ entry in Wikipedia.Expectation is so high that people are looking all the time in Technorati in order to know what other blog users are doing and saying. Blogs have become the best way to extend ‘memes’ and news and it shows in this contest. ‘Microsano’ will be competing with current events’ words for the next 2 months, until the HazRuido.com contest is finished.
