Comscore and Nielsen disagree on which is the main social network in Spain

We have an interesting data war in Spain. While Nielsen and Alexa put Facebook as the main social network, Google Trends and Comscore say that Tuenti outranks the US based site. Comscore’s study also states that Spain is the second largest country in terms of social networking usage, with 73.7% of Internet users visiting at least one network every month. This means 13 million people! Up 41% since December 2007.

Nevertheless, Comscore admits that Facebook is growing much faster than Tuenti: 1,147% against 770% in the last 12 months. This is the ranking:
1. Tuenti: 5.6 million users
2. Facebook: 4.3
3. Fotolog: 3.3 (not a social network, but a photo exchange site)
4. Hi5: 2
5. Metroflog: 1.9 (not a social network, but a photo exchange site)
6. Sonico: 1.6
7. MySpace: 1.5
8. Badoo: 1.2
9. Netlog: 0.3
10. Skyrock: 0.3

I am missing Wamba in this ranking. As far as I know it has 1.6 million users in Spain every month. Besides that, January’s Nielsen’s home panel puts Facebook as the main social network in Spain with 8.3 million users. This is the first time it makes it into the Top 10 Spanish sites.
