Is social networking accounting for 50% of time spent online?

Time spent on social networking is increasing day after day. Not only Facebook keeps growing but the number of applications and pages is bigger, so people can enjoy more things on this social network. If one year ago social networking was accounting for almost 25% of time spent online, nowadays it could be nearing 50%.

Look at this:
– In 2003 it was only 1%
– In 2005 it grew to 2% (because of Friendster and Orkut)
– In 2007 it reached 8% (because of MySpace and Facebook)
– In 2009 it became 15.8%

If we keep the same rate, it should be close to 50% in 2011. Let’s see!
