Xing is back: the professional social network buys two startups

Xing, which still surpasses Linkedin as the leading professional network in Germany and Austria, has been quiet for a long time. But it’s back. This last week it bought tow startups in the talent search and networking fields. One of them is the expats social network InterNations and the other one is talent search management firm PreScreen.

Both startups are based in German speaking countries, so it’s no surprise that the buyer is Xing. InterNations, which cost €30 million, has its headquarters in Munich and counts 2.7 million members in 390 cities worldwide which can connect and help each other, both offline and online, in finding apartments and going thru government red tape. InterNations will continue to operate worldwide as a separate brand.

As of Vienna based Prescreen, Xing paid €27 million for this hiring management platform, a type of software known as Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). Xing already has an e-recruitment site, but it’s not as powerful as Prescreen’s and will complete its offer probably focusing later in Artificial Intelligence.
